Castle of Broken Dreams
There had been a young woman who had made a ‘best- friend with benefits’ connection to an old temptress. During their time together the younger woman was insistent on finding gifts. Looking for presents through the land of make believe. She glanced about unearthed lies. She traveled to abandoned factories, camera in hand, waiting for a glimpse of the elusive present. She had been told tall tales and heard of urbanized myths referring to this present from her new found friend, the idea of this special offering, hung like Ben n Jerry‘s Ice Cream tubs above her head.
Though the younger woman had many gifts given to her: the love and affection of her partner, a papered artifact stating she had graduated to adulthood, money that burned holes in her pocket and a full time job!
Always in need of more and intent on getting what she always wishes for, our Disgraceful Diva never gave up hope. She had been spoiled by spoils and had not the time or energy to believe that the infamous ‘present’ would not someday be hers.
Time passed by. Adulthood eluded the young woman. She plagued her friend, the wickedly fun but older seductress. She asked every day of her this decadent partner and part time elderly lover,
“But why? Why have I not received this gift? This present that you speak of is nowhere to be found!”
Finally, the younger woman turned to the older woman and claimed,
“I will love you no more until you show me of this precious present! My adoration will expire the last day of the first day of winter solstice if I am not given everything that I have asked for!”
The older woman simply replied,
“The gift was in the precious present. You have wasted so much precious time in words and demands that you have missed what is most important…your present had been the precious present and it is no more!”
